The Abia State government on Monday threatened to institute legal proceedings against Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of the state and The SUN newspaper over what it described as unwarranted attack on the Theodore Amaefule Orji led government.
In a reaction to a story titled: “Abia stinks, says billionaire, Arthur Eze” published in today’s edition of the newspaper, Eze Chikamnayo, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, accused Kalu of using his medium to “disparage Abia people especially the elders.”
Reacting to the publication, Charles Ajunwa, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor said, “the state government will not hesitate to resort to legal measures against the former governor and his medium, The Sun if the unwarranted attack continues.”
Chikamnayo insisted that the business mogul never said “Abia State stinks”, on the contrary he said Eze only narrated what he described as his “awful experience traveling on the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway from Enugu to Umuahia,” while addressing an audience at the popular Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia as part of activities marking the states 23rd anniversary.
The commissioner said Eze was only referring to the deplorable state of the Enugu- Port Harcourt federal road which the state governor has commenced work on.
