Adamawa Governor Barred From 2015 Election

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has barred James Ngilari, Adamawa State Governor from contesting the state governorship election in 2015.

Members of PDP National Working Committee took the decision to ban Ngilari at a meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday night to comply with the agreement it had with the governorship aspirants from the state about two months ago.

Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the party, disclosed that the governorship candidate of the party for 2015 election would come from Adamawa Central Senatorial District of the state but Ngilari, is from the northern part of the state.

Metuh called on the eight aspirants who signed the agreement and had bought forms but later withdrew to come and exchange it without any payment with the new 2015 forms. The party publicity secretary said those aspirants were entitled to contest since they are from the same senatorial zone.

Ahmadu Fintiri, Speaker House of Adamawa House of Assembly and seven other governorship aspirants in the state had protested at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Wednesday calling on the leadership of the party to adhere to the zoning arrangement earlier reached with them.

Other PDP members who had protested that the governor must not be allowed to contest the state governorship primary of the party include Ahmed Gulak, a former political aide to President Goodluck Jonathan; Awwal Tukur, son of a former PDP national chairman and Idi Hong, former minister of health among others.
