A prominent chieftain of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the opposition’s efforts to form a united front against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 are doomed to fail.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, who served on the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), described the emerging coalition led by opposition figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as “a gathering of politically desperate men trying to resurrect their failing careers.”

“Over the last seventy years, we’ve seen coalition after coalition rise and fall,” he said. “These alliances fail not because they lack big names, but because they are built on selfish ambitions, not national interest. The current anti-Tinubu coalition is no different.”

He criticized the opposition’s motive, alleging that their aim is not to improve the country, but to grab power for personal gain.

“Instead of wasting time and resources on a lost cause, they should join hands with President Tinubu to support his Renewed Hope Agenda,” Oyintiloye stated.

According to him, the president has already proven his political strength by winning the 2023 general elections despite opposition from powerful forces, even while he wasn’t in office.

“If Tinubu could win against all odds in 2023 without being in power, how do they think they’ll succeed in unseating him now that he’s president and actively working to revive the economy?” Oyintiloye queried.

The APC stalwart also accused coalition leaders of hypocrisy, saying their criticism of the Tinubu administration is rooted in bitterness, not principle.

“If they had been offered juicy appointments, they would be the ones defending the government today,” he claimed.

He urged President Tinubu to stay focused on delivering economic reforms and infrastructural development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has already begun to restore public confidence.

Oyintiloye concluded by calling on opposition figures, particularly from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to redirect their energy toward constructive collaboration instead of plotting politically motivated alliances that history shows are unlikely to succeed.
