A major disruption unfolded at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1) on Wednesday morning after former Edo State Governor and senior APC figure, Adams Oshiomhole, allegedly caused a terminal lockdown following a missed flight.

According to a statement released by Air Peace, the incident occurred after the politician arrived late for Flight P47120 scheduled to depart for Abuja at 6:30 AM. The airline explained that Oshiomhole and his team arrived at 6:10 AM—after the airline had already closed boarding in accordance with its on-time departure policy. The flight departed as scheduled, but chaos quickly followed.

Air Peace condemned what it described as “unruly conduct” by the prominent politician, stating that he “physically assaulted staff and forcefully barricaded the terminal entrance,” preventing other passengers from accessing their flights.

The airline claims he sealed off the terminal gate and personally blocked entry, disrupting operations and stranding hundreds of travelers.

Eyewitness accounts and viral social media posts quickly identified the individual as Adams Oshiomhole.

One post read, “Adams Oshiomhole caused serious problems at MM1 this morning. He came late, the plane left, and he and his security blocked the departure point, insisting no one else should fly out until they handled his issue.”

The story rapidly trended online, sparking outrage from citizens demanding accountability.

Air Peace stated that it activated a contingency plan, rerouting affected passengers through another terminal while reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on aggression against staff and passengers.

The incident has reignited criticism over the perceived impunity enjoyed by high-ranking political figures in Nigeria. Many Nigerians have expressed frustration over what they see as yet another example of the elite acting above the law.

Despite widespread online outrage and calls for consequences, there has been no official response from Oshiomhole or federal authorities as of the time of reporting.
