Chelsea are intensifying their push to sign Dutch forward Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in a deal expected to be worth around €70 million (£61m), even as Tottenham Hotspur prepare a late attempt to hijack the move.

Talks between Chelsea and Leipzig are ongoing, with the German club holding firm on their valuation. Reports suggest Chelsea may open with a €60 million bid, while also exploring creative proposals including a possible swap involving Christopher Nkunku, though Leipzig remain insistent on a straight cash deal. Simons, who has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest young talents, is believed to have already agreed personal terms with Chelsea on a contract running until 2031, worth an estimated €12–13 million annually. Sources close to the player indicate he favors a move to Stamford Bridge over Bayern Munich or Manchester City.

Tottenham’s late interest, however, has injected uncertainty into the deal, as the North London side seek to reinforce their attack before the window closes. Football insiders predict a dramatic final week of negotiations, with Chelsea determined not to lose ground.

In another major transfer twist, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is being heavily courted by Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, who are prepared to offer him a staggering £33 million per year salary package. The Portuguese midfielder, who has been central to United’s plans, has privately indicated he would consider the move if the club decides to cash in. This comes just months after Fernandes turned down an even more lucrative £66 million annual deal from Al Hilal, underlining Saudi Arabia’s persistent ambition to lure Europe’s biggest stars to the Pro League.

With Chelsea locked in a tug-of-war for Simons and Fernandes weighing a potential shock exit from Old Trafford, the final days of the transfer window promise high drama. Fans across Europe are bracing for what could be some of the summer’s most defining move.
