Davido Emerges Only African Nominee for 2014 Soul Train Awards

David Adeleke, wave-making Nigerian singer popularly called Davido has emerged as the only African singer nominated for the Soul Train Awards set to hold on November 30, 2014.

Davido got nominated for the Best International Performance category with “Aye”, his widely accepted song that retained its top position on local and international musical hit charts for long.

Other nominees in the same category with Davido include Sam Smith, Nico and Vinz, Machel Montano, Ziggy Marley and Shaggy featuring Ne-Yo, who got nominated for the songs, Stay With Me, Am I Wrong?, Ministry of Road, I Don’t Want to Live on Mars and You Girl respectively.

Other nominees on this year’s list for the awards include Chris Brown, who leads the nominations with his hit single “Loyal,” solely racking up four nominations. Usher, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Hudsonwith and other music acts also made the list with Beyoncé, Jhene Aiko, Janelle Monae and John Legend receiving multiple nominations.

The Soul Train Award is an annual award show, which celebrates the best in black music and entertainment. Produced by the makers of Soul Train, the product from which it derives its name, the award ceremony features musical performances by different Rhythm and Blues and Soul recording artists.

The 2014 edition is to hold in Las Vegas, US on November 30 with Wendy Williams as the host.
