Obiageli Ezekwesili, activist and former Minister of education; Aliko Dangote, business tycoon and 31 other Nigerians have made the 2014 list of most influential Africans.
New African Magazine, organisers of the award, said it selected the winners across board for their outstanding performances in various categories.
The event which has become an annual one saw Nigerians and South Africans featured in the award list with 33 and 27 entries respectively from the two countries a press statement released by the magazine said.
Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Idriss Déby and Yoweri Museveni, of Kenya, Egypt, Chad and Uganda respectively also made the list as most influential heads of state in Africa.
“In essence, this was a roller coaster year across the continent and the Most Influential Africans of 2014 highlight the key themes, personalities and game changers of the year, for the celebrations and the controversy.
“A year in review, this edition of New African will also pay tribute to the late BBC Correspondent, Komla Dumor, and Female Genital Mutilation Campaigner, Efua Dorkenoo – African Icons, gone too soon,” the statement said.
