President Francois Hollande has vowed that France will protect all religions, adding that Muslims are the major victims of fanaticism.
While thanking the Arabs for their solidarity over terrorism in Paris at the Arab World Institute, Hollande said Islam was compatible with democracy.
Attacks on Charlie Hebdo magazine, a jewish supermarket and a policeman, left 17 people dead last week in Paris.
