Staff of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State shut down the institution on January 23.

This was due to alleged plan by the management to sack all staff that participated in a recent protest against Isaac Asuzu, the Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The staff had earlier in December 2014 protested against Asuzu for reasons, which include refusal to pay their allowances.

It was learnt that the protesting workers ordered people out of the institution before locking all entrances to the school.

Victor Babayemi, Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the development but said he was yet to be properly briefed.
