FUTA Emerges Best School At National Education Competition

The Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Ondo State has emerged the best school in Nigeria at the 2014 edition of the National Education Innovations Exhibition Competition held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The annual exhibition was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education. It featured exhibition of different innovative creative works across board.

The school’s fabricated cassava peeler, other machines and yellow cassava grains presented at the competition became the bride of the panel of judges which saw it clinching the first position against other Universities across the nation.

The yellow cassava grains became the choice of the panelists over the white produced by other schools because of its fortified Vitamin A and original nature.

Presenting the award to the school on behalf of Ibrahim Shekarau, Minister of Education, Oluwole Olukunle in the ministry commended the creativity and high intellect displayed by FUTA at the exhibition.

Receiving the award, Adebiyi Daramola, Vice Chancellor of the school said, “This is positive and we thank God for it. We have a good name that we must always protect and sustain.”

He added that, “This feat should be the beginning and should further spur our researchers to show the world that our credo of Technology for self-reliance is not in words only but also in deeds. We must constantly improve on our inventions and perfect them for the industries.”
