Adekunle Ogunmola, Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, has announced that issuance of Permanent Voter Cards, PVC in the state would be extended by one day.
While addressing newsmen in Lagos, Ogunmola said the collection of the cards and Continuous Voters Registration is extended as a result of late supply of materials, which caused a delay in the commencement of the exercise.
The resident electoral commissioner explained that most of the materials needed for the exercise are supplied by the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Ogunmola said the collection time would also be extended to 5.00-p.m daily.
While admitting that the delay was caused by INEC as the state electoral commission got some of the materials very late, he said the materials are voluminous and will require printing.
The commissioner assured that INEC would ensure that it captured the data of every eligible voter in all the local government areas of the state in order to guarantee a free and fair election in 2015.
Ogunmola expressed belief that the staggered arrangement of distribution whereby 11 local governments would first get their cards before the remaining nine local governments will give the commission the opportunity to concentrate on each of the batches.
