Newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Clement Adoba, has disclosed his plan to bring an end to the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
Addressing newsmen in Maiduguri as some suspected criminals arrested by the command were being paraded, Adoda said the police had never looked back in maintaining peace and security in the country.
He added that the police was working with other security agencies to eradicate the insurgency as soon as possible. “I believe the insurgency will soon be over going by recent successes recorded by security agencies,” he said, warning that the police was determined to fight crime and criminals in the state.
“The command wishes to warn criminals and criminal elements in the state to change their ways and become good citizens. We will not relent in our fight against criminals and criminal elements in the society,” the police commissioner said.
The criminals paraded include Abdlrahman Iliyasu, one of the suspected killers of Stephen Bassi, an Immigration officer. The Police Criminal Investigation Department, CID, arrested Iliyasu in Kano on August 22, 2014 after investigations linked him with Bassi’s murder.
