The Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) has described Festus Ahon’s appointment as Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the state Governor as a testimony to excellence.
Until Ahon’s appointment, he was the Vanguard Newspaper Bureau Chief in Asaba, Delta State, and a member of the JIFORM, a non-profit international media body with over 300 journalists focusing on migration reportage across the continents, few hours after his inauguration on Monday, May 29, the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, pronounced him as the new CPS.
Ajibola Abayomi, JIFORM President, in a statement made available to TELL said “Ahon is a reserved journalist with high reputation whose appointment would serve Delta State well. Indeed, hearty cheers to a leader in the journalism professionalism.
“This is a hallmark of excellence for a journalist who is dedicated to his calling with passion. Last year as a member of the JIFORM, he exhibited high level of discipline and professionalism at our global migration summit in Canada.
“I salute the governor for having eyes of excellence to discover Ahon. This is the way to go for other state executives who want to leave a legacy of choosing the best hands to serve the people.” Abayomi said.
