President Goodluck Jonathan has visited the scene of a collapsed building in the premises of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Ikotun, Lagos.
The church was the president’s first port of call on arrival in Lagos for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Southwest sensitisation Unity Rally held on Saturday, September 20.
The president said he was personally pained by the disaster and expressed condolences to the family of those who lost their loved ones and those who suffered various degrees of injuries in the unfortunate incident.
Jonathan who said the incidence was a bad spot on the image of the country said, he has extended his sympathy to the South African government who lost some of its nationals to the tragedy.
Over 80 persons were officially confirmed dead while 131 others suffered varied degrees of injuries when a six-floors guesthouse collapsed within the church premises on September 12.
