President Jonathan arrives

President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the people of Southwest Nigeria to vote only people that will work with the federal government to develop the zone at the 2015 general elections.

The President who made the statement this Saturday at a PDP southwest sensitisation unity rally held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos State, told the crowd at the rally that election of Federal Representatives who will work with and not criticize the Federal government will sustain governments’ transformation of the region.

Jonathan appreciated the people of the South west zone and PDP leadership for endorsing him for reelection in next year’s election.

The President said the rally was not a campaign but a solidarity visit to members of the zone who, he said, have remained determined to return all states in the region back to the PDP in 2015.

Also speaking at the rally, Vice President Namadi Sambo, highlighted some of the projects carried out by the PDP-led federal government in the region. He said the “construction of Lagos-Ibadan expressway; Lekki and Badagry deep seaport; completion of West-North railway line and construction of new airport terminal in Lagos are reasons the region should return the southwest to PDP.”

At the same event, Emeka Ihedioha, deputy speaker of the House of Representatives talked about the support of the PDP-led National Assembly for the endorsement of the president for reelection and promised to deliver more votes for the party at the 2015 general elections.

Those who attended the rally include, Adamu Muazu, PDP national chairman, Governors Godswill Akpabio, Akwa-Ibom State; Emmanuel Uduaghan, Delta State; Liyel Imoke, Cross Rivers; Seriacki Dickson, Bayelsa and Ayo Fayose governor-elect of Ekiti State.

Other dignitaries at the rally include Akinwunmi Adesina, Agriculture minister; Mulikat Akande, House leader and Dimeji Bankole, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, among many other party stalwarts.
