Godwin Obaseki
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has described the killing of Olajide Sowore, younger brother of the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore as “heartbreaking”, vowing that all efforts would be made to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
Commiserating with Sowore, over the sad incident, Governor Obaseki assured in a statement on Saturday that the state government would work with relevant security agencies to investigate the unfortunate incident. He said efforts would be intensified to bring the culprits to book.
The late younger Sowore, according to the state police command, was killed around 6.45 am on Saturday by suspected kidnappers who also abducted five other persons in the Okada area of the Benin – Lagos Road. He was a student of Pharmacy at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
Obaseki’s statement reads: “I commiserate with the Sowore family and the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, over the death of his brother, Olajide Sowore.
“The news of Olajide’s death is heartbreaking and we will make all efforts to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Edo State, I condole with the Sowore family and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
