Man Remanded For Raping Another Man

Sali Malu, a 38-year-old security guard has been remanded in Kirikiri Security Prisons, Lagos for sexually assaulting Nuhu Yusuf, his colleague and townsman.

Malu was arrested and arraigned before an Ikeja Senior Magistrates’ Court 5, sitting at Abule-Egba, Lagos by the Ipaja Division of the Nigeria Police.

Malu was arraigned before T.A. Elias, the court Magistrate on a two-count charge of unlawfully having canal knowledge of Nuhu Yusuf and breach of peace.

The charge reads in part, “ That you Sali Malu did sexually assaulted and unlawfully had canal knowledge of one Nuhu Yusuf by inserting your manhood into his anus without his consent.”

The police prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Williams told the Court that the offence is punishable under section 259 and 166(d), Lagos State criminal laws, 2011. She also said that the complainant and Defendant live in the same apartment at No.31 Peace Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja where the crime was allegedly committed.

However, Maiduguri born Malu has pleaded not guilty to the two charges.

Relying on his plea for leniency, Elias granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two responsible Sureties in like sum.

In the meantime, Malu has been remanded in Kirikiri Security Prisons for not able to perfect his bail terms before the Court adjourned sittings for the day.

The matter has been adjourned till May 5, 2014 for hearing.
