The National Assembly has adjourned plenary for one day in honour of late Awaisu Kuta, Senator.

Announcing the order for the adjournment this Tuesday, Victor Ndoma-Egba, Senate Leader, read out the order saying, “The Senate do announce the demise of Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta (1949 – 2014).”

Until his demise,Kuta represented Niger East Senatorial District in the red chambers of the law making body. Eulogizing the late lawmaker, David Mark, Senate President said Nigeria and the Senate have lost a patriotic citizen who at all times joined hands with other Nigerians to move the country forward.

“Specifically, the late Senator Kuta made the Senate Committee on Federal Character very vibrant and responsive to the needs of Nigerians in terms of making relevant agencies under it to bring about equitable recruitments into the federal service and allocation of resources.”
