The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force Northwest (JTF NW), Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Major General Warrah Idris, has ordered troops to sustain unrelenting pressure on the armed criminals behind the abduction of students at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.
A statement by David Adewusi, Captain, Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said Major General Idris gave the directive during his visit to the scene of the attack on Saturday, November 22, 2025, where he carried out an on-the-spot assessment to gain firsthand insight into the incident.
Upon arrival, he was received by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 OPFY, Major General C.R. Nnebiefe, who briefed him on ongoing coordinated rescue efforts in collaboration with other security agencies.
Reaffirming the Theatre’s commitment to rescuing the abducted students, Major General Idris charged troops to intensify their operations and maintain overwhelming pressure on the fleeing criminals.
“The bandits are clearly feeling the heat of our operations and will find no safe haven,” he said. “Remain vigilant and relentless in pursuing them without granting them any respite until every one of the captured students is safely recovered and reunited with their families.”
Major General Idris assured the troops that all necessary operational enablers, logistics, and support would be provided to ensure the mission’s success.
The military continues to work closely with other security agencies to track down the perpetrators and bring the abducted students home safely.
