Femi Odekunle, professor of criminology and a member of Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption , PACA is dead. He died on Tuesday at a hospital in Gwagwalada, where he had been taking treatment for the infection for about two weeks.

The president, Muhammadu Buhari, speaking through his senior Special assistant on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said the death of the professor came as a shock to his administration. He said Odekunle would be missed for his contributions and sense of humour, among other qualities.

The statement reads in part: ““His lasting contributions as well as his charisma, wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all us, his friends and associates.”

Before he was picked to serve on the committee headed by Professor Itse Sagay, senior advocate of Nigeria ,SAN Odekunle had served as political adviser to General Oladipo Diya, then chief of general staff , equivalent of vice president, in the military regime of late General Sani Abacha. He worked at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
