Austin Evbakavbokun, the designated Commissioner of Police for the Osun State gubernatorial election has stressed that activities of miscreants and other forms of electoral breaches will be resisted with maximum force during the elections on Saturday.

“We are here with full force. We are not going to beg issues, we are going to force issues,” Evbakavbokun said while addressing journalists at the force headquarters in Osogbo on Thursday.

He also dispelled earlier reports that an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was detained for diverting sensitive electoral materials. Evbakavbokun said the police did not arrest anybody with regard to the election. “We are apolitical, we are here to maintain law and order to ensure free, fair and credible election,” he added.

Over 4000 policemen have been deployed to their stations across all the local government areas of the state ahead of Saturday’s election.
