Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Charles Aniagwu, on Monday, debunked reports of the alleged cancellation of presidential results for Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta. The state governor, Dr. I feanyi Okowa, hails from the local government area. According to initial reports, the results were delayed due to over-voting.
Aniagwu, in a statement in Asaba, however dismissed the report of the purported cancellation as “a figment of the imaginations of the purveyors of the fake news” and urged the general public to disregard the said rumour which he said was a propaganda targeted at causing mischief in the area.
He insisted that the results for the presidential election and National Assembly elections in the area had been duly accepted and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC “and the PDP won in the local government”.
He assured that the PDP was doing well in the election, and urged party faithful to remain hopeful as the results continued to trickle in.
