The federal government has announced that the two days approved for the public holidays for the eid el Fitri are Wednesday, July 6 and Thursday, July 7, 2016.
The holidays were hitherto meant to be Tuesday and Wednesday, but because the latest announcement came on Tuesday afternoon, by which time Nigerians had already started to observe the holidays the implication is that three days will now be observed for the event.
The authorities said the reason for the change was because the moon was not sited on time.
