Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will officially commission two major reconstructed roads on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 — Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA and the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (formerly Old Dopemu Road) in Agege Local Government Area.

This move reaffirms the administration’s commitment to expanding road infrastructure across the state, easing transportation challenges, and improving the daily lives of residents and motorists.

With these additions, the Sanwo-Olu-led government has completed a total of 38 roads and five bridges in 2025 alone, reinforcing its reputation for aggressive infrastructure delivery despite economic headwinds.

The Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road, a critical bypass formerly known as Old Dopemu Road, connects key traffic arteries such as Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

It serves both Agege and Alimosho local government areas, offering motorists an efficient alternative route to reduce congestion in one of Lagos’s most densely populated corridors.

Similarly, Abaranje Road in Igando provides a vital access route to many communities within the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, improving mobility for residents and facilitating the movement of goods and services within the region.

The completion of these roads is already easing traffic flow, eliminating flooding issues, reducing travel time, and enhancing economic activity along the routes.

Residents and business owners in these areas are expected to benefit significantly from the improved road infrastructure, which is set to attract increased commercial activity and raise overall economic productivity. The projects also represent a broader vision of a more connected, resilient, and economically vibrant Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration has reiterated its commitment to continuing road upgrades and new constructions across the state as part of its “Greater Lagos” agenda — a promise to leave no community behind in the ongoing urban transformation.
