A Nigerian sports bettor’s alleged ₦7 million SportyBet winning ticket has sparked outrage on social media after the bettor claimed that his expected payout suddenly dropped to just ₦0.10, with users on X demanding answers from the betting company.

The bettor, identified on X as Enny Campbell (@EnnyCampbell), said he staked ₦7,000 on a large live accumulator and was seemingly on course for a multimillion-naira payout after 33 of his 34 selections had reportedly won.

According to Campbell and screenshots circulating online, the final selection involved the match between Lille and Paris Saint-Germain. When the match moved to 2–0, Campbell said he expected his ticket to produce a return of approximately ₦7 million to ₦7.3 million, based on the odds associated with the bet.

Instead, he claimed that the SportyBet platform showed a cashout amount of only 10 kobo, leaving him shocked and angry.

Campbell took his complaint to X, tagging SportyBet and demanding that the company review the ticket and pay the amount he believed he was entitled to.

“Immediately the match turn 2-0 instead of 7.3million they’re showing 0.10 telling me I cash out, CASH OUT 0.10. What’s it even for?” Campbell wrote in a post that subsequently attracted significant attention online.

The bettor also rejected any suggestion that he had deliberately accepted the 10-kobo cashout. He described himself as an experienced punter and said he had previously won money through SportyBet, including proceeds he used to purchase a phone.

Campbell’s complaint quickly drew reactions from other Nigerian bettors, with several users sharing screenshots and recounting what they described as similar experiences involving ₦0.10 cashout figures on high-odds accumulator tickets.

Some users alleged that the 10-kobo cashout option appears when bettors are close to completing potentially lucrative accumulators, while others questioned the design of the cashout confirmation process and claimed it could be triggered accidentally.

The growing discussion has led some bettors to label the alleged practice a “0.10 cashout gimmick”, with calls for SportyBet to explain how cashout values are calculated and why such an amount could appear on a ticket reportedly worth millions of naira.

However, the allegations circulating online have not been independently verified, and screenshots or individual accounts alone do not establish that SportyBet deliberately manipulated Campbell’s bet.

Another major point of contention is whether the ₦0.10 displayed on Campbell’s account represented an actual completed cashout transaction or simply a cashout offer generated by the platform. The distinction could be crucial in determining what happened to the ticket.

SportyBet had not publicly issued a detailed statement specifically addressing Campbell’s case at the time of publication, although the company was reportedly in contact with at least one complainant through direct messages.

The latest controversy has also revived discussions about previous disputes involving the bookmaker, including a 2024 legal dispute reportedly involving approximately ₦900 million in withheld winnings.

Campbell has continued to demand an investigation into his ticket and payment of the expected winnings, while the controversy has generated intense debate among Nigerian betting communities.

The incident has once again raised questions about transparency in online sports betting, particularly concerning cashout calculations, confirmation procedures and the settlement of high-value winning tickets.

Until SportyBet provides a detailed explanation and the underlying betting records are independently examined, claims that the platform operates a deliberate ₦0.10 cashout scheme remain allegations.
