Two persons died on Thursday in a fatal road accident that occurred along Ijebu Ode-Ibadan road, opposite Ilese Military Barracks, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State at about 2:30 pm.
The accident, which involved a Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number JJJ92CK and a Volkwagen Audi 80 with plate number, BEN319RR also left one man seriously injured.
Adebola Olotu, an official of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, at Ijebu Ode confirmed the incident stating that the crash was caused by over-speeding and subsequent loss of control by the driver of the Jeep.
Olotu stated that nine people were involved in the crash, which, he said could have been averted only if the driver of the Jeep had taken a little caution to drive within the prescribed speed limit.
He said corpses of the two victims, both male adults, have been deposited at
the Ijebu Ode General hospital.
