There are indications that political parties may reopen their campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly rescheduled elections as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will today meet to review the restriction on electioneering campaign within the extension period.

The Ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the leading opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are contesting the legality of the restriction imposed by the commission even when it has shifted the elections.

However, the Director of Strategic Communications of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has described the decision of INEC not to allow political parties to engage in further campaigns, despite the postponement of the elections to as illegal.
