Ahead of the November 12, 2024, date for transfer of power from the current administration to the incoming one, the reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Sunday reminded elected political leaders to be conscious of the transience of power, unlike the traditional institution which is not tenured. He therefore advised elected leaders taking digs at traditional institutions to be wary of their actions and retrace their steps.
Shaibu, who spoke at the eighth coronation anniversary commemorative thanksgiving service for Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, at the Holy Aruosa Church in Benin, particularly advised the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo against choosing the path of perfidy after his swearing-in, but to work in harmony with the traditional institution.
He also advised him not to ride roughshod on sacred ground but learn from the unforgettable memories the outgoing administration failed to address in order to succeed.
According to the deputy governor, “why I need to speak from the heart is that there are lessons that need to be learnt any day. I will start with just one. By November 11th midnight this year, I will be former deputy governor.
