AirAsia Plane: Tail Of Crashed Plane Found

As the search for the AirAsia flight QZ8501, which crashed in the Java Sea on Sunday, December 28, continues, the Indonesian search officials say part of the tail of the plane has been found in the sea.

The tail, which houses the “black boxes,” that records voice and flight data, is expected to give investigators clues as to the cause of the crash.

It was recovered in a secondary search area, lending support to theories that strong currents may have moved the debris.

The plane was lost en route from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore and had 162 people on board.
