A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced three persons including one who is now dead to 24 years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing and trafficking a 28-month-old baby, identified as Etim Gospel George
The convicts, Goodness Thompson, Sunday Jonah and Kpabong Imasin, were found guilty of taking away the child from his parents in 2018 at Komo-Kom in Oyigbo Local Government area of Rivers State. The child is still missing.
The magistrate, Chika Amanze, found the three persons guilty of selling the only son and child of his parents for N350,000.
Kemi Ogunnaike of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, who facilitated the prosecution, commended the judgment.
