As Muslims around the country prepare for the Eid el-Kabir, Suleiman Abba, the acting inspector-general of Police has ordered all commanding officers to beef-up security strategies before, during and after the festival.
He specifically directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General and Commissioners of Police in the 36 states and the FCT to take measures to provide adequate security at all key and vulnerable points like places of worship, recreation centres and other public places, adding that this was to enable worshippers to perform their religious obligation. Meanwhile relevant security agencies including the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, are making nationwide plans to ensure that the Eil el-Kabir is celebrated peacefully.
