As part of moves to ensure a successful general elections, Suleiman Abba, the Inspector-General of Police, has ordered “watertight” security around all key and vulnerable points across the country.
Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Police Force Public Relations Officer announced this in a statement issued on Thursday saying it becomes imperative in order to ward off any likely or possible attempt by hoodlums or men of the under-world to attack some installations and public places.
According to the Police spokesperson, such key and vulnerable places include Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps, Media Houses, Service Providers Installations, INEC Headquarters and Centres, Banks, Hospitals, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC lodges, Hotels and Government offices among others.
Abba enjoined members of the public to remain steadfast in collaborating with officers and men of the Nigeria Police to stamp out crimes.
He said the Police has perfected strategies to prepare a safe and secured environment for a hitch-free elections on March 28 and April 11.
