Babatunde Raji Fashola, Lagos State governor, says the state has established a disability fund in order to advance the cause of people living with disability in the state. In an address delivered today at the Nigeria National Persons with Disabilities Multipurpose Co-operative Society, NNPWDMCS, the governor who was represented by J. O. Abolude, a director in the Ministry of Special Duties, encouraged people with disabilities to access the fund and other facilities the government has put in place adding that the state government will grant them equal rights and opportunities in the society so as to guard them against discrimination.
“Let me inform you that the Lagos state government has also established a disability fund which shall be administered by the office for disability affairs which individuals, corporate bodies, and government can contribute to. The purpose is to advance the cause of persons living with disability in the state.” He said.
The occasion which was held at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN hall, national stadium, Lagos witnessed the presence of representatives of various organisations and individuals including Bank of Industry; ACCION Microfinance Bank; Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy; and Edward Auguoh, a representative of D. K. Olukoya, General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries among others.
