State officials said the Blue Line Phase 2 project will involve major structural adjustments along the Lagos–Badagry corridor, including the Mazamaza Bridge, to support rail infrastructure and ensure long-term safety and durability. The 18-week maintenance period is expected to help manage traffic and reduce safety risks before full-scale demolition begins.

Motorists and commuters using the busy expressway have been warned to anticipate traffic disruptions during the maintenance period. The government said traffic management measures and diversion plans will be implemented to minimise congestion, while urging road users to cooperate with traffic officials and plan their journeys in advance.

The Lagos Blue Line Rail project remains a cornerstone of the state’s mass transit reform, aimed at easing congestion, cutting travel time, and providing reliable and affordable rail services. The Mile 2–Okokomaiko extension is expected to significantly improve mobility and boost economic activities along the Lagos–Badagry axis.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project as scheduled, stressing that the short-term inconvenience caused by the maintenance work is necessary to deliver long-term transportation benefits for residents and businesses in Lagos.
