Osa Director, a lawyer, has sued the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA for damages, claiming a sum of 100 million. He is also demanding that his properties, which include a sum of $1,700 (One Thousand And Seven Hundred Dollars) and a telephone, being an A52 Samsung Galaxy Handset, allegedly taken away with his car, be returned to him. Director is also seeking the enforcement of his fundamental human rights.

The lawyer said his car, a Ford Edge SUV, has been detained since August 24th this year when it was forcefully seized from him by LASTMA officials, who were accompanied by two men in police uniform. While claiming that the LASTMA officials stole his money and telephone, he said the manner of arrest was demeaning, as he was ambushed in a Gestapo style.

In a statement, Director said he is suing for damages because he was subjected to “untold hardship, trauma, loss of business and violation of his right to life, dignity of human person, liberty, freedom of movement and the right to own property” by the officials.

The matter has been listed for mention on Monday November 14th before Justice O.A. Odusanya of the Lagos State High Court.
