Acclaimed strong man of Imo politics, Martin Agbaso, on whose back the current governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha rode to power in 2011 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has dumped the party for his former party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Agbaso, who formally rejoined the PDP, at a well-attended ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, said he would not only meet the expectation of members of the party by his return, but would even surpass it.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of a waiver to Agbaso to pursue his 2015 ambition.
Agbaso who is the elder brother of the former deputy governor of the state, Jude Agbaso is throwing his hat in the ring to contest the governorship of the state.
The state executive of the party described the return of Agbaso as a good omen for the the party in next year’s election.
The defection of Agbaso is coming on the heels of that of Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor, Senator Chris Anyanwu and a host of others, thus dealing APGA a devastating blow
