NGE Wants Govt To Partner Media Against Societal Ills

The Nigerian Guild of Editors has charged the government to see journalists as partners in the war against corruption and other ills. It says in a release to commemorate world press freedom day today that in line with the global theme of the    event “journalism must thrive in Nigeria, if we must arrive at the peaceful shore we have long envisaged.”

The statement signed by Femi Adesina, NGE president emphasized that journalists should no longer be “harassed , intimidated, brutalized, jailed or even killed “, because a media under assault will not be well positioned to bring about the change that is being expected by all.

Adesina said on their part, Nigerian editors “are resolved to be in the vanguard of all that is noble and decent ‘ with the hope that journalists will do their work “without let or hindrance.”
