Public primary and secondary schools all over Nigeria were closed today in protest over the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Borno on April 14.
This is in line with the directive given by Michael Olukoya, President of the
Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, issued through a statement.
Uniformed students who went to school were sent back home and all school activities suspended for the day.
As contained in the NUT statement, members of the union are to hold “Bring Back Our Girls” rallies concurrently today in all the 36 states of the country and Abuja.
