Najeem Yasin, president of National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW, has warned members of the union to refuse monetary inducement from politicians who might want to lure them into politically motivated violence.
Yasin reminded members that the union has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on the movement of voting materials across the country, urging members to discharge the duty with integrity and honesty.
Speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State capital shortly after the commissioning of a central mosque he facilitated at Ilorin International Airport, the NURTW President admonished members to be mindful of the MoU signed with the electoral body.
He stated that with the MoU, those that would partake in the electoral exercise were expected to be unbiased and work according to the instructions of the INEC.
“I’m appealing to all state councils across the nation that we have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with INEC in Abuja to transport voting materials across the 36 states.
“So I’m using this opportunity to appeal to our members to make sure that they perform their duty according to how they are directed by the INEC, and they should not allow any of them to be used to cause any violence during the coming elections.”Follow Us on Social Media
