The people of Obokun Constituency of Osun State have been praised for their doggedness to exercise their voting rights in the face of stiff confrontations during the last governorship and states House of Assembly elections.

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, serving lawmaker and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said his re-election in the April 11 poll is a reflection of the people’s confidence in him.

Oyintiloye scored a total vote of 9,499 to beat his closest contestant Mayowa Adejorin of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who polled 7,130 ballots.

The APC had claimed its party supporters and agents were attacked, and intimidated by hoodlums believed to be loyal to the PDP.

“In the course of the election, there were harassment of our people, interruptions by fake security personnel moving around with unregistered Hilux van.

“In spite this intimidation, our people stood firm and defied the attempt to deny them their franchise. This has shown that the people indeed have become not only politically awaken, but defender of democracy”, Oyintiloye said in a statement.
