PDP Claims Victory Ahead of INEC Final Collation of Results

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Osun State has announced that it has won the Saturday governorship election “overwhelmingly going by the results” at its disposal. A statement signed by Akindele Adekunle, chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the party in the state said the party had called the attention of the electoral commission to, according to him, an unnamed agent of the government who had been working hard to manipulate the outcome of the exercise.

He therefore warned against any attempt to tamper with or manipulate the victory against Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the party who is Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s rival at the polls.

But by the time the statement was released officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC were still collating the results gotten from the 30 local government areas in the state. Though the results so far show that the two candidates are running neck and neck it may be too early to predict a winner. However, the general mood is that things are looking up for Adeleke.
