Chekwas Okorie, National Leader of the United People’s Party has said that religious affiliations will play significant roles in determining political loyalty and support in the 2015 general elections.
Okorie who made the statement today in an exclusive interview with TELL said, “Religion will determine political loyalties in the 2015 election. In 2015, I can see religion playing a significant role in determining loyalties and support.”
Okorie also cited government sponsorship of religious faithful to holy lands as one of the ways the government mobilize for political support and “drain state resources,” adding that it must be stopped in the interest of the state.
The UPP leader advised the PDP to stop playing politics with the current security situation in Nigeria adding that the ruling party must stop playing blame games with the leading opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the level of insecurity.
There have been accusations and counter accusations between the PDP and the main opposition, APC over who is actually responsible for the unending spate of violence in some parts of the North.
