A heartbreaking kidnapping video circulating online has sparked nationwide outrage after showing Magaji Adebanjo, an employee of Vine Crest College, pleading desperately for his life while held captive by armed men in Kogi State.

Adebanjo was abducted on December 10 along the notorious Kabba road, a route increasingly known for violent attacks on travelers. He was reportedly journeying from Ogun State to Abuja when gunmen intercepted the vehicle and took him away along with other passengers.

In the 63-second video, a visibly shaken Adebanjo identifies himself, his voice trembling as he appeals to Nigerians for help. The kidnappers demand a staggering ₦100 million ransom, an amount many online users have called “cruel and unrealistic,” especially given his reported ₦50,000 monthly salary.

Beside him in the footage is another kidnapped victim, clearly injured, underscoring the brutal conditions captives endure and the escalating danger along major highways.

The incident has reignited public anger over rising insecurity, with many Nigerians accusing authorities of failing to protect ordinary citizens.

Social media users say Adebanjo represents the countless “everyday people” who fall victim to unchecked criminal activity while simply trying to earn a living or travel across the country.

Security analysts warn that Kogi’s Kabba axis remains one of the most dangerous corridors for road users, with abductions now frequent and increasingly brazen.

As calls grow for urgent government intervention, Adebanjo’s family and colleagues are pleading for swift action before the situation worsens.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the abduction as of press time.
