The Return of Lagos Flood

Ikeja-Flood3As popular and strategic as it is, Awolowo Way in Ikeja, Lagos turns to a nightmare each time it rains in the city. And that was exactly the case on Monday morning as the road was flooded as a result of a heavy downpour. The rain which started around 10am as usual resulted in a traffic gridlock, leaving many people stranded in the process. Some of the road users expressed their frustration bothering on the fact that the road and its adjoining streets don’t have drainage systems and have been left unattended to for years. Their concern is that the coming rainy season would be another period of agony if urgent steps are not taken to contain the floods.
