Writehouse, a Nigerian Publishing company, is set to release writer, Olubunmi Familoni’s debut collection of short stories titled, Smithereens of Death.
The book, which provides different continental themes, would be released at a special edition of the literary edition of the monthly Artmosphere on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
A book party will follow the formal presentation on the same day at 3pm at the NuStreams Conference Centre, Km 110, Iyaganku Road, Alalubosa, GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the publishing house, Familoni, “weaves parody and conflict into unforgettable stories that challenge the reader to see beneath the blurred lines of familiar experience.”
It further said that in the collection, death is used as a backdrop for expressing sociological and psychological shifts that occur in the motions of thought of everyday post colonial experience.
Familoni is a film and pop-culture connoisseur. His stories have featured in anthologies and literary fora such as Naija Stories, StoryMoja Africa, ZacuGist, Klorofyl, StoryZetu and YNaija.
He wrote the screenplay, ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ for the AfriNolly/Ford Foundation Cinema4Change project in 2014.
