Tim Cook, Chief executive of Apple has declared plans by the company to shore up iCloud security after intimate pictures of some celebrities were stolen and published online. Hackers through various media published private pictures of some personalities this week.
Actress Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna and some other top celebrities were the targets of the perpetrators.
Cook said users would now receive alerts when data is restored to a new device while maintaining that Apple’s security had not been breached. “iCloud accounts may have been broken into when hackers correctly guessed passwords or through phishing,” he said.
The company already alerts users by email when a new device tries to gain access to data and when someone tries to change a password.
Cook said Apple will start sending push notifications about activity on users’ accounts in about two weeks.
