Ghana’s boxing fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Ernest Akushey, popularly known in the ring as Bahubali. The promising fighter reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, September 23, 2025, just 10 days after suffering a technical knockout defeat against Jacob Dickson at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

According to reports, Bahubali lost the September 13 bout in the eighth round. He fell ill days later and was said to have complained of severe discomfort on Monday before collapsing and passing away around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
