Julia Pierson, director of the United States, US, Secret Service has resigned.
She tendered her resignation last Wednesday following the incidence of a fence-jumper who gained entrance to the White House on September 19.
Pierson who is also the first female director of the service has been brought under tensed call to resign owing to the security breach and consequent security lapses revealed by congressional investigation.
Her resignation was contained in a statement released by Jeh Johnson, Homeland Security Director, with a promise that the Homeland Security will launch an in-house inquiry into the matter and review the State House security.
It will be recalled that Omar Gonzalez, was alleged to have on the said date gained access to the White House armed with a knife through the first floor of the building.
