Markets in Ogoniland were closed on Tuesday to mark the 20th anniversary of the execution of the environmental rights activist, Mr. Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight of his colleagues by the Nigerian state.   Youths, students and women groups participated in several programmes in Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area that were organised to mark the memorial.   A church service was held in the city, while processions were carried out later in the day. Some enthusiasts dressed in black uniforms also took time to visit Saro-Wiwa’s tomb at Bane, also in Khana Local Government Area.    This year’s celebrations were however less riotous. But a source said the suppressed state of the celebrations was the result of the split in loyalties to the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, an organisation founded by Saro-Wiwa to fight for the liberation of the ogoni people.
