The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter, has said that the information making the rounds that the party’s Congress conducted on November 1 across the country has been cancelled, is false and should be regarded as the handiwork of self seeking individuals.
The party made the statement on Tuesday in a press release signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser, Media to Felix Obuah, the party’s State Chairman in Rivers.
Dismissing such claims, Needam said the idea of canceling the Ward Congresses was never brought forward for discussion at anytime before the leadership of the party both at state or national levels. He stated that some unfaithful aspirants within the party are the ones peddling the rumour.
Needam said the outcome of the Ward Congresses remains and are irreversible, since there was no controversy around it.
“Instead, they keep wasting their resources on advertorials, protests and petitions even when their real opponents from the rival parties are not sleeping, hoping on who will issue orders from above that they should reap without sowing. This is most inconceivable and unfortunately has no place in the PDP,” he stated.
The spokesman said those involved in such anti party activities should desist from it and explore relative peace in the party to canvas for votes ahead of the party primaries.
